As for friendship
I am not sure how close we`ll stay over the years
If there`ll be a time we realize that we`ve lost touch
But tonight you are here and life feels free
and the rest doesn`t concern me all that much
In some years from now we will be glad of what we had
And I hope we`ll still be friends enough to share
memories of a certain time and place
and smile about the troubles we had there
But no matter where you`ll travel
and no matter whom you`ll meet
I want you to promise me this
In spite of all the scars that marr its fragile heart
always remember how wonderful this world is
Don`t spoil this moment by wondering what might be
surprises always change the course that our life runs
And many sorrows that keep you awake at night
will disappear before they`ve even come
and all our plans and schemes
will change with life`s demands and dreams
we cling to now will lose their golden glow
and unexpected treasures and undiscovered paths
will lead us in new directions as we go
But no matter where you`ll end up
and what your life will be like
and if by then I`m still someone that you miss
If nothing else has come of it
remember me then for tonight
and for believing in a world
as wonderful as this
